Mission San Antonio de Padua

Jolon, California.  Arriving at Mission San Antonio de Padua, we found the mission buildings under construction for earthquake retrofit.  The mission museum was closed, but we were able to walk some of the grounds and visit the church which is painted inside just as it was originally.  Beyond the walls of the mission grounds can be found the remains of the irrigation system used by the mission.  In an age when technology plays such a prominent role in our lives, it is interesting to realize the ingenuity of the people of that era and how much they accomplished with the limited natural resources they had.  At the end of our visit, we had a conversation with a Franciscan Friar.  We are really enjoying the opportunities to meet and converse with people from backgrounds different than ours and to realize how much we have in common.
